Meet Portland’s first kosher brewery, founded in 2014—Leikam Brewing! This small, family-run brewery is owned and operated by Sonia Marie and Theo Leikam, who are all about small-batch brews, helping their community, and sourcing local ingredients to reduce their environmental impact. Like many great craft breweries today, Sonia Marie and Theo started production in the backyard of their home. That home-grown feel is still a major part of Leikam today, found in the hands-on approach, creative approach to small-batch brewing and close ties to local hop farms. Leikam Brewing also supports the principle of tikkun olam (repairing the world) through which a portion of their profits go to several nonprofit organizations they’re committed to.
