Located in Altoona, just northeast of Des Moines, Brightside Aleworks is a family-owned brewery creating beautiful craft beers with their tiny but mighty 3BBL system. Molly and Andrew Frana’s journey began back in 2010 when these already avid craft beer fans were gifted a homebrewing kit for Christmas. For years they not only carried their homebrew kit, but expanded it as they moved around Iowa for work, setting up the equipment in tiny apartments, garages, and even on decks. Their persistence paid off though. In 2014 Molly and Andrew put down roots in Altoona, and in 2017 they opened Brightside Aleworks. With coffee shop vibes and good beer, it is a place for friends to drink together and laugh together.
