South Burlington’s Weird Window Brewing is owned and operated by Jack and Emily Droppa, and (of course) their Apricot Standard Poodle brewdog, Citra. Jack, Weird Window’s brewer, was introduced the world of home brewing back in college, and the hobby followed him from New York to Utah to California to Vermont, turning into a profession along the way. Emily, the brewery’s Taproom, Merchandise, and Events Manager, gave Jack his first home brewing kit back in college and has since earned her bachelor’s and her master’s and worked as a school counselor before diving into the dream of opening a brewery.
And Citra… She is in charge of greeting everyone with hugs and kisses.
Weird Window concentrates on brewing beer for everyone, offering up a diverse selection of styles for all different tastes. On rotation in the taproom you’ll often find Pale Ales, IPAs, Lagers, Brown Ales and Stouts, even a NE IPA called “We Named the Dog Citra.”
And speaking of names, why Weird Window? Across Vermont and other parts of New England are buildings, especially farmhouses, with crooked windows built into them. They’re often called “Vermont windows” or “witch windows,” but Jack and Emily refer to them as “weird windows.”
